FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: The article cites Maria Nikolajeva, a professor of at Cambridge, as saying that Bella does not "in any way promote independent thinking or personal development" in women, instead portraying a woman "meek and willing to do anything for her vampire boyfriend" (POV).
Hugh Leask article explains how little people know about hip hop when channel four decided to show a misguided interpretation of its culture "the show felt disjointed and confused"(Hugh Leask).
In the fourth paragraph Hugh Leask took note that twelve years ago channel four put more effort in showing how hip hop came to be but now it lacks the basis of hip hop " no attempt was made to bring the chain together"(Hugh Leask).
Program labels failed to include other aspects of hip hop like "breaking" and "graphitti"(Hugh Leask).
Other countries who adopted rap appriciate break beats and "show the science" of making this unique sound to match there style of rhyming (Hugh Leaks).
During the early 80's the media tried to make as much money as possible from this making it seem like it was a break through in hip hop "it was a cynical move by the corporate world"(Hugh Leask).

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

Hugh Leask interpreted how television lack information about hip hop. It fails to inform the events that lead up to expand through the world. Channel four for instance lack the potential of informing the audience like it did twelve years ago.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?
Hugh Leask is London based hip hop journalist. He has wriiten extensively for other types of music such a soul and blues.

The purpose of The Independent is to gather article from journalist and make it easier for the viewing public to be informed.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

Other than talking about how the media interpreted hip hop he lack the information about this events that he was talking about.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

There is a bias in how he only shows how the media negativly interprets hip hop.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author uses television show to strengthen his argument as well as new events.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I plan on uses this source a way on how t.v. show lack to inform the viewer.

Senior Project

I Believe...
  1.  I believe that hip hop is a culture and not rap.
  2. I believe that L.A.U.S.D school district does not reach the standards of higher learning.
  3. I believe that the United States is not doing enough to stop drug trafficking.
  4. I believe that Facebook keeps people in (general) from getting there task done.
  5. I believe that N.A.S.A.'s efforts on reaching greater destinations is does not suffice especially with modern phones beings more powerful than a 1960's rocket.
    1. Growing up I've been exposed to all elements of hip hop. When i say elements I mean music, dance, and street art, which as time went on the world got a hold of this culture which originated in the Bronx of the United States. I would like to learn how hip hop started and why they see the modern day rapper as part of the hip hop culture and not as (actors). The potential risks and challenges i see for this assignment is the lack of books that i could research.
